Job Description: Mountain Bike Park Coordinator

Qualifications Required

• Proven supervisory and motivational skills
• Personable, able to relate to riding guest of all levels
• Self-motivated, organized, able to work productively with limited supervision
• Demonstrated knowledge of safe trail building, maintenance, water management and erosion control, signage, and Whistler/Sun Peaks Standards for Mountain Bike trail construction
• Demonstrated  proficiency  with hand tools, chainsaw operation, safety procedures and training of crew
• Able to work and direct the mountain bike crew in all weather conditions safely
• Understanding of Risk Management for mountain bike trail construction
• Physically fit with no injuries or disabilities that would restrict or interfere with carrying out the job description fully
• Valid First Aid is an asset
• Strong mountain bike riding skills and experience required
• Use of personal safety equipment, above ankle vibram sole foot wear, protective safety eyewear, PPE as required for Trail Crew tasks

Primary Responsibilities

• Training, Supervision, , payroll, documentation and record keeping for mountain bike maintenance program and personnel
• Attend all required SPRC training and orientation sessions
• Willingness to take direction on work required from Manager and direct reports
•  Daily direction and supervision of  mountain bike trail crew
• Work within the approved budget as set out by manager
• Set up of  trail maintenance and repair program and record keeping
• Keep Risk Management and Safety Programs Director apprised of all activities and progress related to the mountain bike trail maintenance program
• Comply with OH&S and WCB regulations with daily work programs, PPE use.
• Maintenance and building of trail surfaces, including berms, bridges and all features to Whistler/SPRC standards
• Reporting to Manager weekly and monthly with program progress
• Ensure and direct that all mountain bike signage is in place and correct as per SPRC mountain bike park trail map
• Assist mountain Bike Patrol with First Aid extrication and lift evacuation if required
• Safe operation and cleanliness of  SPRC company vehicles at all times
• Monitor, inventory and maintenance of equipment, hand and power tools, assigned vehicle, dump trailer, power wheelbarrow, compact tamper daily and weekly
• Demonstrated commitment to safe trails and features within SPRC Bike Park
• Conduct weekly Safety Meetings with Mountain Bike Trail Crew
• Personal communication device use not permitted during working hours

Secondary Responsibilities

• Operate according to the policies of Sun Peaks Resort Corporation
• Duties as required to ensure successful operation of the department including support of Mountain Bike Park Events and other departments and special promotions
