Job Description: Hiking Guide

Department Summer Sports School

Qualifications Required

• Current First Aid recognized by the province of British Columbia
• 19 years of age or older
• Previous guiding experience
• Previous two-way radio communication experience
• High level of fitness, free of injury
• Mountain travel knowledge, training or related experience
• Self-motivated and able to work productively with limited supervision
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Punctual
• Second language skills are an asset
• Highly organized
• Use common sense

Primary Responsibilities

• Direct product marketing to guests
• Deliver Hiking Guided Tours to Guests
• Complete daily logbook of descent routes, incidents, and any other pertinent information
• Ensure safety of self, staff, and participants at all times
• Proper assessment of risks / hazards and rectify as required to ensure safety of self, staff, and participants at all times
• Maintain and care for company equipment and facilities in an acceptable manner

Secondary Responsibilities

• Operate according to code of conduct and values statement of Sun Peaks Resort Corporation
• Attend all SPRC sponsored scheduled orientation & training programs
• Duties as required to ensure successful operation of the department including support of other departments and special promotions.
